Just brought a baby gecko
Hi All,
I have just brought a baby tremper gecko for my son. Shes a female and is very cute. I have read up as much as i can on them as i have never had a gecko before and would love any advice or tips that you can give. She is 8 weeks old apparently. We are keeping her in a eco terranium with 3 hiding places. 1 on the warm side, 1 on the cooler side and 1 where it is humid so she can shed. She eats small crickets and has calcium powder available at all times. Any other tips would be great! Still havent got a name for her either so suggestions would be great :)

Sounds like your little one is of to a good start. Would love to see pictures at some point!
If I do choose to name an animal it's usually something Germanic because I'm weird like that!

Re: Just brought a baby gecko
thanks john,
Its the first lizard we have had so a bit of a learning curve. Any suggestions are gratefully recieved! Some people have told me you dont need to put a water dish in just spray the decor plants and they will drink the droplets and some say to have a dish so at the moment i am doing both. What is the best thing to put in the hidy place to help her shed? ive heard moss, just spraybthe bark under it, even kitchen towel?

Re: Just brought a baby gecko
Hey silverbug, cute gecko it seems like you've got it all under control.
For the shedding place you can use anything that will stay wet! I've used moss but I now use kitchen roll 'cos it's cheaper and easier to change!
Keep it sprayed and your gecko will do the rest, always have a small dish of water for her too, big enough for her to stand in but easy to get in and out...I use a big lid that came off a round tub I found in my attic lol and it holds about an inch of water so it's perfect!
They tend to poo in the same place every time and my guy does it nearly daily so on top of the newspaper I use as substrate I always leave a square of kitchen roll where he poos so when he does I take it out and put a new one in...It took me a month of daily clean-outs to think of that one lol
