meet Peppa
Nikki has always had a 'thing' about pigs since working with them in the Childrens farm at Belfast Zoo, friendly and intelligent they did seem like they would make an ideal pet - apart from the size!
When she discovered a local breeder of Kune Kune pigs (a dwarf breed from New Zealand) I knew what was coming next!
So here is Peppa
At 8 weeks old she is already spoilt rotten, is house trained and likes nothing better than to climb onto the sofa in the conservatory for a short nap.
Its incredible how intelligent she is (more than a dog IMO) and knocks spots (sorry about the pun) off most of our more 'normal' pets.
I suppose its only a matter of time before the men in white coats arrive.

If he is really serious the guy has another litter due in 3 weeks so they will be weaned and ready to go about Christmas time - would make a nice present!

Oh my goodness!! I wish I had the space for one soooo much (I wonder if I could sneak one in without anyone noticing). One of the animals I've always wanted since I was a child . You guys have to update the thread with images as she grows!!!! She's fantastic!

All kune kunes stay fairly small as they are a dwarf breed , we saw the mum and dad of this little girl and they were both roughly knee high. They are quite a bit smaller than Vietnamese pot bellied pigs which most people are familiar with.

Don't think so, everyone here has taken a sudden dislike to pork - can't imagine why

Re: meet Peppa
Hilary, I think John has officially started the EIE I love Peppa Club
She really looks like she is as happy as a pig in..... sorry, I wont say it but she has to be the nicest little thing ever. Will she keep her blond flowing locks or does it fall out as she grows? Sorry for all the questions guys.

From what we have seen of her parents plus another sow that the breeder has the Kune Kunes seem to keep most of their hair, in fact its only really the commercial breeds that don't have much hair (its been bred out of them as it makes processing the carcass more difficult/costly) Nearly all the rare breeds Tamworths, saddlebacks, Berkshires etc all have a fair amount of hair.

Re: meet Peppa
John & Nichola, glad you finally got her! Just one thing John, you can't fully blame Nichola on this one as correct me if I'm wrong, but is it not YOU who always had a terrific interest in pigs? I think you needed no encouragement here - though I am surprised you only got one! As one would expect at Chateau Snakeboy, Peppa will be spoiled rotten by all the family.

No problem David, as you can see Koda and Peppa get on great, in fact Peppa now lives with Koda during the day and they are great company for one another, she only goes back to her shed at nights.
