Coastal Jag Sib
I've been giving this girl alot of attention to tame her down abit, the tap training seems to be paying off she's alot more calm now and she's getting easier to work with. Very happy with this girl

Re: Coastal Jag Sib
Lovely lookin jag.
How are you trying to tame her ?
I have had a trouble taming my king's which took along time. but gradually keeping my hand in the tank and touching their backs have really calmed them down.

Re: Coastal Jag Sib
Thanks mate, all ive been doing to calm her down is gently tapping her on the nose with a snake hook whenever she goes to strike then she stops when i say tapping its more like a rub on the nose. It has really made a difference in her most of the time now i dont even need the snake hook to hand.

Re: Coastal Jag Sib
Should I try her with two rat pups? She always looks hungry. Just shows you how each snake has a different personality lol. My royal never took rats always mice. I tried her a few time and took no interest. Then one day I went to the pet shop for mice but they had nonein stock so I took a weaned rat to chance my arm. She has been on rats since. Lady luck must of been on my side.

Re: Coastal Jag Sib
Karl is the resident morelia man...
But my two cents:
- I would advise getting them onto rat pups as soon as possible. They will need to eat rats eventually, and from what I have heard, it can be difficult to move them from mice to rats later on. Jay, she was eating freshly killed rat pups here, as well as mice
If she doesn't show any interest in a defrost rat pup, you can try scenting etc.
- Pitviper - You'll need to move your carpet up a size when her food item no longer makes much of a bulge in her belly. If you're working from petshops, sometimes it can be difficult to find appropriately sized meals and there is no in between size between rat pups and weaners which may be too big at this stage.
If that is the case you could consider other prey items for a period which may be more suitable in size, or go with two rat pups for the moment.
I always prefer to go up a size rather than give multiple food items when growing animals on, it helps develop muscle tone etc
