HSI upcoming events
Hi all,
Just a quick post to remind peeps of the newly formed Herpetological Society of Ireland (HSI) - the Society has underwent a formal launch in Dublin on 30th May and will soon be launched in Northern Ireland and Cork.
What do you get when you join?
- Quarterly newsletter 'Lacerta' which covers all sorts of topics relevant to herps - native herps, captive husbandry, natural history, genetics, breeding, illnesses and treating them, herping expedition articles, ideal beginner reptiles, games......something for everyone. Members have priority if they wish to contribute written articles and / or photographs to the newsletter. Having your work published is a great addition to your CV!
- members get to contribute to the promotion of their hobby and help native herps directly as the aims of the Society are to promote responsible herptile keeping and increase awareness of our native herps. If you want to make a difference, join up and help make it happen!
- free entry to most of the Society events, and discounted entry prices at special events. We have a lot of ideas in the pipeline including talks, demonstration workshops, day visits (and perhaps longer-duration trips if numbers allow, visiting exceptional collections, set-ups, reptile shops etc.), special guest speaker talks etc. so join today and be more active with your hobby!
For only 25 Euros / £20 a year - thats equivalent to a few pints in the town or a night out for dinner. Joining is easy - download the membership form from the HSI website, fill it in and pop it in the post with payment; alternatively anyone in the Belfast area can contact me directly and I can sign you up as a member and issue you with the first copy of Lacerta. Payment can also be made from any AIB bank or via Paypal - contact me via PM for more details on these payment options.

Re: HSI upcoming events
The first HSI members event will be a trip to Reptile Village in Kilkenny - date to be confirmed but it will be in early August and will be a very worthwhile trip! Overnight accomodation can be arranged as well as travel there and back. Anyone interested in this trip please PM me for more info.
