First rat snakes.
Purchased two young rat snakes at the weekend, they are about a foot long. I havn't had a snake in the last ten years or so, last one being a garter snake.
The two rat snakes are currently held in 8x8x12 aquariums. As they grow I intend to build a viv with plenty of head room to allow branches etc. Can they be kept together or should they be kept seperately?

Re: First rat snakes.
I would reckon they'd be better kept separate, as far as i know rat snakes tend to be cannibalistc. what kind of rat snakes are they? you should get some pics up Marty
Re: First rat snakes.
Congrats on your new additions.
As Marty says it is prob best to keep them seperate.

Re: First rat snakes.
Congrats on the new additions. I love the rats, nice animals to have. Do you know what ones you have?
Re: First rat snakes.
See attached photo of one of the snakes, it looks like it is near ready to shed. The other snake is similar.

Re: First rat snakes.
It probably is a corn but there is something about the head. I really wana know what it is now lol
Re: First rat snakes.
.....perhaps a Grey Rat? With a second look, the head and neck markings don't look like a corn. Hmmmm.....I'm curious now too!

Re: First rat snakes.
The snake due to shed did so last night / this morning. The other snake has been watching too much TV, it thinks it is a rattle snake. When it gets pee'd off it rattles it tail like a rattle snake.

Re: First rat snakes.
Superb mate, I love grey rats, I spied an adult one a few years back, and didn't buy it at the time, I wish I had now
