Re: My first leo
Yeah I think ill hang around and supervise her eating, from a distance at least, give her some space, last thing she needs is big old locusts stressing her out
definitely look into roaches though

Great to hear she is settling in.

looking good.
Sometimes it just takes time and patience.
Is it you or the lizard that isn't fond of the locusts ?

Re: My first leo
Yea the best way i have found is to lift them is by gently squeezing the locusts by the back legs.
Always good fun when one gets out and someone who isn't used to them is in the room.

Re: My first leo
haha yeh, hah seems in the past hour or so shes very used to me, lights are on and shes out though think thats a result of her last place, didnt see any hides for her to sneak away, though most shops need to for customers i guess
also shes basking now BUT was hunting the locust on her hide, interesting to see how stealthy and patient they are, though once close she couldnt get a good grip on the hide and gave up, though good sign shes hungry
sorry for the essays, just all new and exciting :)

Re: My first leo
Great news.
No need to be sorry most of us are still as excited watching our pets as we were when we first started out.
Reptiles are prob the most patient type of animal ever I have had snakes sit and watch a dead mouse for hours with out moving lol but once the mouse is moved ever so slightly they are straight onto it.

That's great news. Keep an eye on her tail, I still love how they wiggle the end of their tail like a cat when they are hunting, not all mine do it or that I've ever seen but most do or when the lads are feeling a little ehhhh you know what I mean lol
Re: My first leo
haha i do, read that :P didnt see her tail wiggling as i tried to watch secretly not to put her off, just happy shes able to poke her head out now without being afraid :)

A little patience goes a long way and just think how quick she's come round.
We should tell you, you won't feel right till you have at least one of Adys animals

Re: My first leo
Hey guys need a little help here, so Lady is starting to shed as I can see the skin around her torso going all white and some of it has started to peel, not anywhere else yet, she must have started in the night
Im going to get just a takeaway plastic tub and cut a whole on the side, wet some tissues, thogh i have moss, and out it in, which is best, moss or tissues? and just keep an eye on her from here on out
also what end should I put the box, warm or cool end, or in the middle?
thanks, Chris

Re: My first leo
Hi Chris
Best thing i do is i spray the tank and maybe move the water dish across under the heat so as it mists the tank.
Moss would prob be best tho I'm sure tissues would work just as well.
As for the wet box I would put it inbetween as it might dry out to much if it is under the heat for too long.

Re: My first leo
Yeah was wondering about spraying as I thought that too much humidity in a leopard geckos tank wouldnt be good for her? ill move the dish across, it isnt too big a wee exo terra water dish thing
ill be looking for a box today and get the moss in it, thanks for the shout just needed reassuring!

Re: My first leo
The humidity should only be raised while they are in shed if it was constantly high then you could get problems but for a few days it is fine and helps get all the skin away easier.

Re: My first leo
I just make sure the water dish is a size they can soak if they wish, add a damp hide but I've had no shedding problems ever. I do give them a little spray, which they HATE but I can't say if it helps or not as I don't spray each and every time. I keep the damp hide in the warmer end too.
So how did she get on, any developments?
