Re: Reduced 50% Jungle Jag
WOW, that's a big difference and what a lovely animal. June looks completely at home with him too
Re: Reduced 50% Jungle Jag
Beautiful snake there. The size now is amazing too. Do you have any females? The reduced marking from a genetic point of view is this dominant or how does it play out?
Re: Reduced 50% Jungle Jag
Just noticed....is that a jag to jag pairing ?

I was reading elsewhere today that the Jag x Jag paring can lead to some problems, is that the case? Either way this is a beautiful snake non the less even if it is.
Re: Reduced 50% Jungle Jag

Re: Reduced 50% Jungle Jag
There is a risk of jag x jag pairings throwing leucistics......these normally die in the egg or just after hatching. The rest of the clutch should be fine though I think but best to let Karl fill in the blanks here I'd say....know a few breeders have advised me against jag x jag pairings though
here's a link to the jag man's pairing outcomes, just ignore the first few paragraphs as it is in english further down....

Re: Reduced 50% Jungle Jag
Gorgeous Tommy, and bigger than I thought a JJ would get, with the jungle influence. ( I know next to nothing about carpets really) My 07 boy was so much smaller.
That is such a beautiful snake, best of luck with the breeding!

Re: Reduced 50% Jungle Jag
Only seeing this now - major congrats Tommy!
Breeding Jag x Jag should in theory produce a clutch of which 25% will die from the lethal homozygous / 'super' Jag condition i.e. leucistic. Most never make it full term in the egg and the few that do usually last a few weeks or months if your very lucky. It appears that the homozygous Jag condition affects the lungs / breathing function as it is when the animal has to switch to breathing atmospheric air (i.e. close to hatching) that most fatalities seem to occur.
50% Jungle Jags will still be quite large as they only have 50% Jungle influence and its not at all uncommon for Jungles to reach 7ft; the 75% and 88% Jungle Jags are much smaller due to the greater Jungle influence in their genetics.
For 50%ers Tommy they are some of the best out there - I have everything crossed fror ya!
