Re: green rat snakes
You're looking for red tails? I can ask around for you but they don't pop up too often over here. I believe they can demand a high price too due to the amount of CB v WC you see and obviously people opt for CB when they can.
Debs (biowoman) keeps them so if you send her a mail she may well be able to point you towards some breeders as I don't know anyone myself who's breeding or selling them.
Also, have you checked on the ratsnake foundation? That's a wonderful place and you will find some of the whos who in the ratsnake world over there and may make a few contacts too, well worth checking out.

thanx tan, stevie seen pics of them and liked them a lot lovely display animal, doing a bit of research on them to see if they would be ok for me to tackle and not let the animal down by not doing enough reading up on them.

Re: green rat snakes
I don't know anyone with green bushs but you are right, they are pretty awesome looking animals but not much info out there unless I'm thinking of something else lol
Re: green rat snakes
red tail racers are a fantastic rat, but very very hard to get CB as i wanted one for a loooooooooooong time. Only ones ive ever seen were WC and died quite quickly in captivity. Shame, As they are a stunning snakey

Re: green rat snakes
I had looked into getting one a while back, all i could find was wild caught. i was warned off them, as Pacman_addict has said they tended to not last long in captivity and those that did were a nightmare, musking all over the place, not feeding etc etc
Re: green rat snakes
Check with anyone aiming for Hamm as several breeders knocking out the racers over in europe also take a look at the rhino rats if you like them green.

There were a few red tailed's kickin about in the UK for sale fairly recently so take a look over there, but have to agree with Buddy Hamm is prob your best bet also agree with him on the rhino front as nothin can beat them for me

Re: green rat snakes
I'm glad you like to show him off because I'd never get sick of looking at him. Stunning animals and simply amazing to look at.
Can I ask what the horns function is (or do they know)??

Re: green rat snakes
Tan as far as I was able to find out its just for display/looks and nothin more, but there isn't or hasn't been much research done on the species so might find out more in the future when they become more studied

Re: green rat snakes
Thank you for the info. I had never come across anything but hadn't looked too hard tbh.
It's hard to imagine it's there as a just because. Hopefully someone can shed more light on them sometime soon.

Re: green rat snakes
Tan it could probably be there for two reasons that I can think of.
1 camouflage to help it blend in with it's natural surroundings
2 it could be used to protrude from the greenery waiting for a prey item to touch it then the snake strikes. Slightly different example would be a GTP which hangs it's tail down and wiggles it to attract prey.
Just 2 ideas obviously these are just my thoughts, I could be way off the mark.
