Hoggie update
Just a couple of pics taken since the babies were weaned a few days ago. We decided to wean them a week earlier than the last litter as Mum is a bit of a glutton and we were concerned that the babies weren't getting a chance to sample any food other than cat kibble ( she was kind enough to leave them some of this)
As you can see they are now chomping away on mince, cooked chicken and mealworms, crickets are next on the agenda and possibly some small roaches (not all the adults are keen on these but we like the babies to have the opportunity to sample as wide a variety of foodstuffs as possible).
Since weaning, the babies have become a lot more confident and we bring their cage into the living room in the evenings so that they get used to people moving about, TV noises etc., they now come out to feed and check out what is going on so we think it is really helping them get socialised.
We had to take their nest box and tunnels out to get the pics. We haven't given them an exercise wheel as with five babies in the cage we obviously want to avoid any risk of injury.
(All five babies are now reserved)

Re: Hoggie update
Sorry, I should elaborate, they are not aborial or semi at that, they just get up and over obstacles well and many people are surprised to see them climb as well as they do, even if they are some what clumsy at times

Hi
They are not particularly difficult especially if you just want to keep one as a pet (successful breeding can often be more of a problem)
I have attached a link to IMO one of the best care sheets on the web which gives you more detailed information on them.
Probably the most essential cage requirement is an exercise wheel but this is all covered in the care sheet.
There are some pics of our set ups on this forum if you browse through the various threads.

If after reading all this and you feel you would like to own one gives us a shout and we will see what we can do.
Cheers
John
