Now 4 weeks old
Some more pics of our five hoggie babies, they have just started leaving the nest and coming out with mum to feed. So far three out of the 5 are reserved.

We suspect that they have been coming out for a week or more during the night but its only recently that we have seen them out in the evening. Interestingly the mother keeps trying to push them back into the nest box when we are about, she is very protective of her babies. We also hand feed them when we have them out in the evenings as their mother is a bit of a bin and clears most of the food as soon as it is put in leaving only the cat kibble.
Have you not given up trying Gay boy and used one of your other males yet? As you say babies are really cute.
Karl, all the babies are very relaxed now when they are being handled, virtually no huffing at all and only ball when they are startled (as you would expect).

Re: Now 4 weeks old
Not yet John, its a slow annoying process. I don't leave him in with them as he will just build them a lovely nest they can share lol
I wonder what percent will change once the major quilling starts. It really is a pain when all your hard work goes out the window because a new owner hasn't handled correctly & hormones can make what once was a lovely animall, a bit of a grump. Although in saying that, some just change no matter what you do. That's teenagers for ya

Just seeing this now!
Oh dear....I'm pretty bad....
On the other hand, Dave hasn't stopped talking about the possibility of a newfoundland pup
The hedgie is going well, we just need to think of a name for her! I love her sooo much, she's all mine
