Fasting Royals
Hi
I am posting this to encourage anyone who is worried about their Royals going off their food. Our pair of normals (hatched July '08) fed as usual on Christmas day '09, since then both refused to feed until April '10 when the female started feeding and since then has fed regularly. The male stubbornly refused to eat until two days ago when he finally took a large weaner rat. I had weighed him at Christmas and he was 560grms, now 8 months without food he has lost exactly 100 grms. He doesn't look thin at all and I am sure will now start to put the weight on again.
I hope this will help to reassure anyone worried about their royals not feeding.
Cheers
John

Re: Fasting Royals
Excellent post John
I know reading things like this would help me hugely if I had a non feeding Royal. Knowing how I am even with all I've read about them, actually experiencing it I would be worried sick but your post is an uplifter!!

Re: Fasting Royals
Good info John...Many folk worry an awful lot if their snakes miss their regular feeds....you often have to remind [especially beginners] that this really isn't that big of a deal....sometimes snakes in the wild can go for several weeks and some times months with little effect and for a variety of reasons...
As Tan mentions it's always nice to have timely reminders
