New Scorpion Viv
I have just moved my two H. Spinifer scorpions into a new tank. Until the other night it held one goldfish, the fish has been moved to a smaller tank. I have attached pictures.
This picture of one of the scorpions was taken under UV light to help show it up.
This is the other scorpion, commonly known as greedy. It is now on a diet.

OMG that second one is massive. It isn't female is it?? Excellent set up with loads of hiding places too.
Re: New Scorpion Viv
Cool set-up! Its great to see people giving inverts the same attention to detail as people give to reps, fish etc. and what a display!

Re: New Scorpion Viv
I have no idea if the BIG scorpion is female or male, really hard to find out. I am not sure when they become mature as they still have some way to grow.

She (hopefully she) is back onto crickets. I'm keeping a careful eye on this one.

Re: New Scorpion Viv
Moonstone, you can easily sex a scorpion (much easier than a T) by looking at their undersides and examining the pectines (small comb like appendages on the ventral abdomen).
Check out the differences between males and females below:
Notice the longer pectines in the male compared to the female.

Re: New Scorpion Viv
I shall sort one out for you Don a.s.a.p (PS Karl aka Morelia aka Batman owns that one )
Re: New Scorpion Viv
Spiderman,
It appears that both scorpions are male. The one that was blown up like a balloon seems to have passed the obstruction as it has decreased in size.
They are not the most helpful creatures when trying to sex them.
I did suggest that I should seek a female in order to breed but Mrs Moonstone suggested that I could live in the shed.
Cheers
