Re: Your Colubrids
This is my little point 'n' shoot IXUS 100 (and don't you know I had to have the red one lol although I do have the black model too, don't ask) great little camera I have to say.
I found the original IXUS (manual) an enjoyable camera too which I think I had in 96/97 and haven't strayed too far from the Canons when it comes to point 'n' shoot.

Big girl on the left and boy on the right...
Same, same...girl left, boy right.....
They're looking fantastic Tony - they really are great snakes. I couldnt' have found a better home for her. TBH the only reason I was willing to let her go was because she was going to you.
Thanks again, and keep me in mind for one of her kiddies next year!

Re: Your Colubrids
Oh he's looking good! Are you naming him Evil ah he's not that bad Nikki, he only bites when you lift him, touch him, think about lifting him, look at him, that's all lol.
He's in shed again?? Look at his little creases. Guys anyone else got BK who can shed some light on these funky body creases & lines when not bending, my baby has them too and never seen them on another snake before, weird.

Super Mexi Black Nikki!
I see these wee creases in the scales in most of my Aussies from time to time, and its basically like when you wake up and your hair seems to be moulded into a ridiculous shape.
Snake's scales and our hair are made from the same material - keratin - which changes shape whenever it is held in a position other than its natural one, and a little heat (body heat or basking heat) is applied; having your hair permed is another analogy.
Whenever a snake has been basking for a while, such as in a curly-wurly position, and it then moves, the scales on the inside of the coils have been creased by the heat and can look like scale damage. After a short while they return to their normal shape, just like curls eventually fall out of a perm.

Re: Your Colubrids
Thanks for the info Karl and that's very interesting in relation to your guys too. The only think is with these particular creases as I'm sure Nikki has seen, they never ever go. Can you see along the right hand side of his body, the lines which almost look like fine scalpel incisions, are these the ones you see in your animals? I've never seen them before so thought they where funky.

Re: Your Colubrids
I've never seen them as permanent creases or at least haven't noticed it if they are. I've seen them quite a bit in shedding snakes too.
I woke up ths mornin and my hair was stuck up all over the show, its darn lucky I didn't have to be anywhere this morning!
