future pairing in 2011-12

hey id thought in the 60% chance of me getting a snake dats on my wishlist as iv only half the money id thought id show off a pairing i will be doing (for my first time) both are 09
this is my female

but a pairing could happen b4 this one as the male would be ready a yr b4 so if i get a het albino female den at 2yrs old id probibly have a litter of albinos in 2011 and as far as im awar i dont think anybody is breeding them yet in N.I (if i am correct id maybe be the only breeder in northern ireland?)

if any ones interested to make my dream come even more possible im selling my pine snake great snake not like the ones who r supposibly bad tempered

Super BCI and thats a cracker Kahl albino too - hope you can get the money together to get it, you couldn't deal with better people than Lisa and Dave.

Theres a few peeps with albinos and hets, Ben has quite well grown-on albinos in Reptile Haven that are stunning! Most others are 2008 / 2009 animals.

iv got a sharp albino male and poss het female pastel salmon, so in two years im hoping to breed to get myself a sharp sunglow or at very least ill have some het sharps for my sunglow later on!! lol so not the only person breeding albinos sorry, oh and morelia if you fancy a male sharp to pair to your female pastel sharp in couple years you know where to come!! ill only take a female from the litter..... lol

I think Ben's intention is to breed them, yep. He has some salmon hypos on the go in the shop at the moment too.

Sharp sunglows are the bizz chappers....hard to beat a good sunglow. I'll be waiting at least 3years if I decide to breed my female Sharp to anything.....albino to albino is never is good idea though as it can result in eye defects amongst other things.

i was reading a while back,on kingsnake.com,i think.Several breeders that have been outcrossing their albino boas to try and get rid of the missing eye gene that is plaguing albino boas have said that out crossing is not getting rid of the missing eye gene,they think thta the missing eye problem is not caused by in breeding,but unfortunatly is linked somhow to the albino gene.they say that albino to albino breeding doesnt actually increase the liklyhood of missing eyes!

well if an eye defection does happen well whats the possibilities of it happening?
also will it effect the snake or will it be serious

As Phil says the problem of eye defects is something that affects albino boas - breeding albino to albino has been shown to increase the chances of getting deformed neonates in the resulting litter. Its better to breed an albino to a het albino, these breedings reduce the chances / number of offspring being born with eye defects. Its better still to breed an albino to a completely unrelated boa bloodline, this will produce a fresh bloodline of 100% het albinos.

IMO the initial albino boas were inbred quite a bit to maximise the number of albinos produced, and this would have compounded greatly any underlying mutant defects such as eye problems.

I'm not too sure of any albino x unrelated boa breedings that have produced neonates with eye problems, but my boa research is relatively limited - maybe Phil knows some examples?

The commonest defect with albino boas is a missing eye or eyes.

im definatly not an expert on defects in albino boas,im just going on what i read
ill try to find the posts/articals that i was reading,though it was a while ago that i read them.Before i read this info i was under the impresion that the missing eye problem was caused by inbreeding.

due to my mum being my mum she has now decided that i shouldnt get the boa as she thinks me paying £400 for the kahl boa is to much lol
so this may not end up as a pairing after all looks like i got my hopes up! but im trying my best to talk her into letting me get it?
other wise ill have to settle for a pair of kahl hets
