Avic versicolor juvie
Yesterday I picked up this little guy, a juvenile Martinique Pinktoe Avicularia versicolor. Shes in her immature phase at the moment but will change into an even more stunning T when her adult phase comes about.

Oh my gosh, shes just fantastic. Are they a display only or can they be handled Karl? I am LOVING the colours on this little lady
Re: Avic versicolor juvie
Shes for display but apparently this is one Avic that can usually be handled. They are skittish though so I prefer, at this stage anyway, to appreciate her as a display animal.

The avics all can be handled and they don't flick hair but watch out they jump and can be a devil to get back in their enclosure if they do get out.
Lovely spid Karl and as usual great pics.

Re: Avic versicolor juvie
I can't remember seeing this one. Stunner.
These are a good spider to get use to the idea of speed (and in relative safety to boot)
I would class Avicularia as 'medium speed'.....but when you see the speed at which they move then that gives an idea of speed in what is classed as a 'very fast' spider (in case you happen to venture to the asian arboreals).

Thanks Ian - this girl can move alright, when I was tinkering lastnight I had her crawling all over the lid of her enclosure and it was hard to keep up with her!
