Green means go :)
A few years ago I bought the Greg Maxwell book 'The More Complete Chondro' and must've read it 10 times over since then. Only in the last few months did I decide it was time to try one of these little dudes first hand.......a Sorong type GTP :)

Sorongs have long, pointed, blue and black speckled tails

And the first little patch of green has appeared too :)

Re: Green means go :)
They're like the eye candy of the snake world :) I just can't stop taking a peek at this little python any time I'm in the animal room LOL
I like the Arus too Emma, they can have nice white speckles down the back and sides and also get a deeper, richer shade of green than Sorongs, but they are very timid and so a lot of people have problems getting them to feed / strike feed. Sorongs have a bit more confidence about them and are less problematic feeders, or so I'm told, so I thought it would make a good first Chondro.

Re: Green means go :)
Now this is one beautiful little guy. I met a little lad just like this one in Hamm, looked exactly like him and I kinda went oohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh as he went into the box. He almost fit into my pocket
Re: Green means go :)
Yellow GTP babies are actually considered one of the more 'normal' and less varied forms, but they are such a variable species in appearance that every one has its own unique beauty. Check out this link to see what I mean :) [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Its probably this little dude you seen Tan as it came from a friend at Hamm
Oh and he's had his first feed :) - I'm told its not a fussy feeder at all and eats pretty much anything, so far that seems true!

Absolutely stunning! I think these snakes are probably one of the nicest to look at, especially as babies.

Re: Green means go :)
Oh I am Tommy, you know me too well LOL!
Phil, dunno the sex of this little snake yet - Chondros have very delicate spines at this stage and so its generally recommended that they aren't handled too much or sexed until around 12 months of age. I'm happy enough to own just one at the moment so sex doesn't concern me, but if I can keep this little dude happy.......well who knows?!

Re: Green means go :)
Cracking looking snake Karl. I bet it is something to watch it eat from the perch? Do you ever see it sit on the ground?

Re: Green means go :)
Only seeing this now Kieran - oooops :)
Its quite a keen strike-feeder but no different to most of the carpets which strike-feed from perches too. Never seen it on the ground as yet, but they are known to go to ground occasionally.
Hes growing nicely and is coming up to a year old.....will be interesting to see how it develops in the next few months.
