It sure is, and this is a wild type Jungle carpet, no line breeding with this fella which makes him even more outstanding

The Striped MD's popped up spontaneously in a clutch from normal parents and the appearance still has to be proven out. Striping in carpet pythons is usually a polygenic trait but you never know. Murray Darlings are still very thin on the ground and are waaaaaay overlooked. The steely-blue on the flanks and unique head pattern are awesome, plus they stay relatively small and are very docile.

Re: Cutting edge Aussies
Yep some of the line-bred European and American lines of Jungles are nice alright but its great to think that even locality animals with no line breeding influence can also produce stellar black-and-yellow Jungles like the male above. They sure are eye candy, but as time goes on I'm drawn more to the locality Jungles though as there is amazing variation within what we call 'Jungle' carpet pythons.
To the best of my knowledge Paul Harris was the first to import Rough-scales into Europe and he's back in England so they now reside there. Marc obtained his by chance through the government authorities after they seized a smuggled shipment of pythons from Oz. Its great to see them finally being kept in Europe and its a life-long goal of mine to own one since first seeing Mark O'Shea's programme looking for them in the Kimberley region over 10 years ago. Awesome, mysterious python.
Darwin carpets are the northern subspecies of carpet python - Morelia spilota variegata - sometimes called the 'Top End' or 'Northwestern' Carpet Python. Although albino Darwins and their hets are on the increase in Europe, pure Darwins without albino genetics exist only in the collection of UK Pythons and Paul has been working with them for a long time.
