For the species from drier habitats I'm using straight coconut coir.....its damp here and so looks very reddish; when it dries out its a paler brown.

Re: One hot metal....
OMG, a Phoenix from the flames it looks to me!!!! Now that's class! Loving her Boa blowing hot air from his nostrils too.
She is excellent. Now I have to say I'm liking the look of this one a lot (and her markings just add to the beauty for me). What are they like to keep Karl?

Re: One hot metal....
This is a species completely new and unknown to me until very recently Tan, so I'm learning as I go. They are essentially a dwarf T with females not exceeding a 3 inch legspan. So far this girl is very docile and well-mannered, and they are tough as old boots I am told (as are many Chilean species)......so all-in-all a very good little T.
Apparently they benfit greatly from a cool period each year when temps drop gradually from 23C down to 15C, as with many snakes this annual temp drop is believed to benefit their longevity and is part of their natural annual cycle. During the cooler period they obviously go off their food, so they aren't unlike a Chile Rose IMO.
