butter motley layed

i went in to check my corns tuesday and had a surprise my butter motley was laying eggs i never put her to any male this yr as i wanted to get her a bit bigger but last year she was in with my bloodred for a few weeks and it was supposed to be a female then had it probed and turned out male so took him str8 out then put her in with a female butter het motley and that also turned out male so 1 of them must of had her last year will have to see what comes out

Looks like you may have two fertile eggs there. Candle them to look for veins.

What a nice surprise Ant. Do keep us posted on their progression please. I find this really interesting tbh. If she was possibly mated by two males can she retain sperm from both or will these eggs be fertalised by one or the other male and not possible for a cluth with say 50% eggs are male A and 50% male B? Sorry if this seems a silly question but it is something this post had me thinking about and is possible in other animals. Best of lucky Ant.

hi tan yes the females can retain sperm from both males so its gona be pot luck lol but should have a good idea which one is dad to whitch hachling i will keep you all posted on these andy normal babys will be the bloodreds and any butters will be the butters so this will be easy to deturmin the dadTanpira wrote:What a nice surprise Ant.
