Snake bites
Have you ever been bitten by one of your snakes? if you have tell us about it and if you have any photo's, even better.
Heres a recent one of mine.
My female 07 Boa decided to have a go at me last week, she's never bitten before but she was a couple of days overdue a feed and i stuck my hand in whilst not really concentrating on what i was doing.............

Not the worst bite in the world by any means and not particularly painful but it bled loads.

Re: Snake bites
Both myself and Dave are subject to the occasional tag, kind of goes hand in hand with the nature of the snakes we keep!
I've had a few nasty bites from bigger snakes that have started bruising right away, but the worst bit I've had was from a leopard gecko! He literally tore a piece of skin from my hand and the blood was shocking. I still have the scar
My lovely tame two yr old shortass burm Sunny who I've had since he was a hatchling decided to become a narky bugger about two months ago - I reckon he's become sexually mature. so, knowing he was not quite himself, I casually suggested to Dave a few weeks back that perhaps he should take Sunny out for a bit.
A few minutes later a high pitched 'mo*** fu*** came from the snake room

Ha! It looked like there had been a massacre in the snake room - blood up the walls, all over the floor...
I've gone a few months without any nasty tags, just a few prickly bleeders from some of the babies. But dave managed to get tagged by the big nutty Jampea retic through a pair of heavy duty welding gloves recently. It's the longest he's whinged about a bite ever

Re: Snake bites
Got bit by my female royal last week.
Loads of blood but when cleaned could hardly see where I was bitten except for a bit of redness.
Been bit a few times by my Cali King's but again lots of blood no war wounds to show for it.

Re: Snake bites
i got bitten by my female sonoran a while back, she can be a mean tempered thing when she wants to be. wasnt a bad bite at all and was done in seconds, didnt realise she bit me till i saw the blood. she was in my left hand and struck out at my right hand and i thought she missed. i stood there just looking at her couldnt believe she actually bit me and she looking up at me mouth open ready to go again

Re: Snake bites
The only Snakes I've been bitten by are adult & baby corns & Satan, so nothing to complain about really. My worst bite to date is between a bat and a hog!
Lisa, have you ruled out the shorts as a factor in the bite All joking aside that bite looks and sounds really painful.

Re: Snake bites
Haha! Tan he's had those stupid shorts since he was seventeen!
That bite is not much compared to some of the bites we've had here to be honest. Retic teeth seem to do a lot more damage than many others.
The bite through the welding gloves the other night was pretty nasty. She wasn't prepared to let go, so a bit of skin winded up being torn in the process!
What I really hate is when you've got to pick teeth out of your skin. It itches the heck out of me!

Damn!!
Yes, i've been bitten by my cornsnake, it was more a feeding response thing though and wouldn't let go!!! Stupid warm water didn't help as i did a quick google search with him wrapped round my hand bleeding profusely lmao
Then the royal bit me, it was a defensive thing i moved too quick but there was minimal blood and she let go soon as and curled up super tight!
I have some pics on the other pc i'll try find

Re: Snake bites
hmm ive been bitten few times by my boas..
my first ever bite was from my 6fter....
i had her in the garden and the neighbors dog came running over, guess where it went....to the snake... i quickly thought to try and chase the dog but then also thought leave it i wont hve to feed her for another 2 weeks...
anyway i chased the dog but my snake new it was about any started to hunt for it...i managed to get of the ground but once again the dog came over and my boa went on a rampage to get at the dog she bit me in total 4-6 times that day....i did some shouting at the neighbors and said if i see that dog in the garden again it will be snake food....
unfortunatly ive no pics of my arms but there was quite alot of blood and teeth marks everywhere....i still have a few wee marks...
i think a bit of inexpirience on what to do in that situation kicked in to...but my thoughts were to prevent any harm to the snake, at the cost of a few bites...
next is my male boa who is completely unpredictiblyone minute hes fine next hes striking at things or biting.....hes got me on a total of 3-5 ocassions just when he feels like it, and i think i might have a pic.....dunno
