Hi Joe
It seems to have really grown, are you feeding dead or live, did you manage to sort something out with your local supplier.
Lovely spid and great pics.

Re: Mexican red knee
Hi Joe looks like your Red Knee is a female, Im not 100% sure but i think males have long legs and females have short legs. The males have longer legs to stop the female from eating them during breeding hope this help's you. Good Luck with he or she

Re: Mexican red knee
lol i also heard that with the right heat and feeding males will reach sexual matureity at around 18 to 24 months, females Red Knee's don't reach sexual matureity on till they are 4 or 5 years, i had a few females a year or two a go they were 5 year's old and still refusing to breed, but maybe the Male was just ugly

Thanks again for the info Jim!!! :)
I have mine on a heatmat, well it's stuck to the side and sometimes early morning when the house is cold i see her plastered to it hahaha apart from that it's never used and maybe he was just ugly haha, i don't like that they eat them though....disgusting!

hi Joe
Thats really interesting that the Chilean rose takes dead as well especially as she hadn't been used to this before, all those experts on the 'other forum' were adamant that T's were not scavangers and wouldn't take dead under any circumstances. Looks like they were wrong after all!

Re: Mexican red knee
Hi joe
in the first pic he looks to have a very long abdomen so i'll plump for a he (females generally have a shorter rounded abdomen) the only real way is to wait for a moult and then examine it under a microscope, if you google "sexing tarantulas" it will give you a guide on how to do it.
cheers
