New Bumblebee
Well, I hadn't planned on buying any new snakes as the funds are a bit low at the minute and I've plenty to keep my hands full already, BUT I got an offer I just couldn't refuse and got this little guy

Was told it's male, but he wasn't 100% sure, so I'll get it probed when it's a bit older and find out.

Re: New Bumblebee
funds musn a been too low then! I loooove bees, they're what made me consider getting some royals.
i hope he's a better feeder for you than my little bee - honest to god, he's a disaster!!!
He's absolutely beautiful, and wish you the very best of luck with him

Re: New Bumblebee
Cheers. Well I think the previous owner did say it was a bit of a fussy feeder, but only time will tell. I'm sure fresh killed rodents will help encourage it to eat

Re: New Bumblebee
ahh, they'll eat when they're ready. I rarely worry about royals anymore. They like to go through their phases. Our guy won't even eat live when he's in non feeding mode ( i only ever do this as a last resort, hate it), but that's royals for you!
I think ppl are always in too much of a race to get royals to a certain weight by a certain age.
He's a real stunner, congrats and can't wait to see more pics as he grows!

Re: New Bumblebee
Couldn't agree more with Lisa, I think we often fall into the trap of getting overly anxious when a particular snake bucks the trend in a particular feeding regime.
This isn't exclusively the domain of Royals [although I guess they are best known for fasting]. Provided your temps, humidity and ventilation are all on the ball [to coin a phrase], there's little weight loss and no outward signs of ailment, go with the flow...
In the wild it might be several weeks between feeds, always worth remembering that whenever our snakes decide to skip a regular rodent every 7-10 days....if their environment's correct and the animal's healthy it'll surely feed when it needs....
Some owners even prefer the less is more approach to feeding, there's merit there too...slender boas and pythons are meant to be exactly that...I'm thinking of BRB's and Morelia species amongst others....it's way too easy to over feed our snakes....while we feel good about it, in the longer term it can be detrimental.
I've read quite a few articles on poor feeders particularly Royals....one key to success which has cropped up a few times is offering it a multi....try that and see if he turns his nose up....

Re: New Bumblebee
I've heard a few people mention multi's before. Would you have any multis that I could buy to breed Tony?
