new retic arrival
We were lucky enough to get this boy from the first UK - and maybe European - breeding of its kind. He only arrived yesterday, so just took a quick few snaps while moving him. I'm really chuffed with him, he's so cute and tiny!

He's absolutely beautiful Lisa. So tell someone who doesn't know much about these guys what is special about his breeding etc....also what is he classed as?? and his eye is rather striking isn't it. So what size will this guy max out at roughly
Re: new retic arrival
he's a citron tiger, Tan. Citron is very nice in its own right, I believe. And i have great plans for integrating this into some other things we have to produce some special animals. It's a strange one, citron. It isn't generally thought of as a morph in its own right - the major interest with it is that citronxcitron produces titanium, and supertiger form plutonium, so it's thought of as a visual het marker, not a morph.
But citron has a lot to add to any morph. It also 'appears' to be co-dominant. If you breed a citron tiger to a normal tiger/supertiger (which is what this guy comes from), you can get tigers, supertigers, citron tigers and citron supertigers in your clutch. Citronxcitron, as stated, produces a quantity of titanium babies - except it does not seem to be superform.
The genetics aren't really fully understood at the moment, and this particular UK breeding has both answered and introduced loads more questions!
One thing's for sure - there are a lot of things can be done with the citrons. And if our plans work out, in two generations we can make somewhere in the region of 18 different morphs from the original pairing and resulting offspring!
so hurry up and grow, little citron tiger

ha ha Altho i work in more clinical area of psych, genetics was my area of study. So i find it all pretty fascinating - genetics, statistics and a bit of neurology thrown in for good measure from time to time -

Very nice Lisa!
How did the citron morph come about? Is it from a wid caught animal that had the trait?

Re: new retic arrival
ta guys, he's a super little snake. And he's not attempting to eat me, which is always good
Karl - from what i can gather this originally resulted in captivity as resulting het from titanium breedings. But nobody's been too forthcoming
