being a breeder in roi
Few things I'm curious about guys.
How come I don't see any ads with hedgies for sale ??
Is there many aph breeders in Ireland ??
How often do you breed them ??
Why you don't advertise yourself and your herd (i.e. own website) ??
APH probably isn't as popular here as it is in UK but I'm sure there is an interest in them in roi.

It depends where you're looking but they do pop up. I would see a couple a month of singles but not litters.

Nope, there isn't many but they do exist. What's all to common is someone reads a few pages or a book, takes that as gospel, buys a pair, breeds once or twice and then get out of it. If you're asking long term, experienced person then no, you're looking at the only one.

Not often. I enjoy my animals and they are pets before anything else. One or two litters a year maybe depending on when the 'goo' hits me But nothing last year.

I set up a site which was purely information based with rescue ext...but deleted a few years back as I have here. Also, most people in the hobby get to know the decent people so word of mouth usually leads people to you.

There is an interest here but you need to remember we are a much smaller country then Britain and as such have a smaller population. It goes without saying given the facts, we would have a smaller exotic community BUT it is growing all the time.

Appreciate Tan.
I hope someone else will share his/hers thoughts.

Actually this makes sense if there is no long term breeders then no wonder there's no private websites and regular sale offers from the same breeder.
Shame really as it would be great to have a few experienced breeders and be able to buy hedgies from someone who knows all about them.
We are lucky to have at least you

Why thank you lol One of the reasons my hogs are from around the world, tried to have as varied an unrelated (as possible I mean) animals as I could.
Re: being a breeder in roi
There may be more people breeding in the UK but if anything that just makes it harder to find a good breeder.

Very true, just because people do it doesn't make them the best or even good at all. Many don't know anything beyond put a male and female together and 33-35 days later..........
Re: being a breeder in roi
There are definately long time breeders in UK. But actually it has nothing to do with my questions as I'm only interested in ROI as for now :)
