Re: Where to buy a baby royal python
Royals are good snakes to start out with as long as you are aware that they are finicky eaters and can go off food for extended periods of time, sometimes simply because they feel like it LOL. This can be very frustrating but as long as you know about it and expect it, then they do make good starter snakes.
I would definitely buy a young Royal python direct from a breeder as many you see in the shops are 'captive farmed' - this means they are bred in e.g. Ghana and then shipped to here, and many are not feeding or are at best difficult feeders....not what you want as your first snake. Buying direct from a breeder, you are guaranteed that the snake you get is captive bred and feeding well, and if there are any problems along the way a good breeder will always be at the end of the phone or on the PC to help you out.
I kept Royals for a few years but no longer work with them, however there are a few people on the forum here who keep them and will give you much more comprehensive advice than me.....snakeni and moloch gibbon are 2 people that spring to mind.

Re: Where to buy a baby royal python
i recomend find somone on the furum with and breed royals as they could give you the most info probly
and you will also be able to find out how his prev litters have turned out
with some pet shops it can be awkward as i got one and she went 9months without eatin i complain several times an all they said was try next week!
so pick carefully where you wish to buy from and gather some info on their quallity of snakes

Re: Where to buy a baby royal python
Thanks alot for your info guys,i really dont want to buy one from a pet shop like you said morelia because you just dont know if there stressed out or not.
If any one else has some babies coming could you let me know as iam very interested in getting one very soon.
Question how much should you pay for a good baby.

Re: Where to buy a baby royal python
Pauly, that's a great question it really is quite variable dependent on what you're after....drop snake ni a PM and ask or reptile ni a quick call and they'll explain all!! And by the way
Re: Where to buy a baby royal python
£30-40 is what you would usually pay for a normal/wild type royal python, from a breeder that is.
