Thai Beauty
I was up with Milca & Chris last weekend and amongst all their fabulous snakes thay had this stunning Thai Beauty Rat Snake. I would love to track one of these guys down for myself and was wondering do they show up often? Might anyone on here or Ben be able to get me one? There was an add on one of the ad sites recently for a 7 foot one but the add has expired now. All I know is that the guys selling it was called Ricky (ring any bells with anyone)
Cheers

Re: Thai Beauty
Indeed it was Gumtree that I saw the add on Phil. Just spoke with Ben on another matter and I asked him about these guys. He tells me he "may" be getting 3 or 4 grown on specimens into the shop in about 3 weeks time. We'll see what happens.

Re: Thai Beauty
Are Thai rats very aggressive because I would love to get one or maybe two
but I've heard you can't handle them due to being too aggressive.

Re: Thai Beauty
Alot of ratsnake species have their own.. emmmmm 'personalities' but its like anything. Spend time with them and you will eventually get them used to it and be aboe to handlle them..
I have over 20+ ratsnakes (excluding the corns) at home and most of them you can handle peretty m uch okay. A few are abit more flighty, tend to raise up and dot he the 'ME COBRA' stance, or try and strike.. but time will tell.
I know a couple of pps with them guys. Aslong as you move slowly and purposfully they will eventually get adapted to it.
If you do find you get one with abit of a temperament try using gloves for a while. atleast the snake will realise your not out to hurt it and your not going away LOL..
There are also quite a few morphs of these guys out there.. I was sorely tempted with a breeding trio last summer of a normal male and 2 albino females.. Very gorgeous snakes..
There do however seem to be alot more for sale in the UK than over here so maybe worth looking abit fourther afield and you may come across some alot sooner.

Re: Thai Beauty
Hi there, I have a taiwanese beauty myself, and due to room issues I have been in the notion of moving it on. Bit hesitant due to it being quite laid back (for a beauty) except at feeding times -which is typical for the breed! She/he would be about 7/8 foot.

Can I disagree? I know alot of people use glows with aggressive snakes but I think it is much harder to handle a snake when you are wearing glows and the snakes seem to calm down quicker too if you dont use glows IMO.
I'm of the school that if you know how to handle a snake you wont get bitten and its all about trying your way, personally I dont use glows with any of the snakes and rather hook them out then grab them with a glowed hand.
Thai beaty's are amazing animals, on my top list of colubrids :)

Re: Thai Beauty
Per means gloves here. He can actually spell it but he made the mistake once and thought it best to continue in case no one had noticed......
