Re: Happy Birthday Mark T
Oops, missed this thread here. Happy belated birthday Mark. Did you run into any trouble whilst in Egypt?
Re: Happy Birthday Mark T
Thanx marty, it was indeed
Thanx lisa....no, we were in Sharm el sheikh, which is 6 hrs away by car, and heavily secured tourist destination....so we were safe, although the pyramids and nile excursion was cancelled, as Kairo was a no go area due to the unrest.....but the place is amazing, and the red sea.....underwater paradise.......never experienced such calm and diversity in 1 place.......im going back as soon as i can to get my open water diving qualification....can dive anywhere in the world after i obtain this

Re: Happy Birthday Mark T
That sounds amazing Mark. I've always wanted to do something like this along with the entire Dolphin thing, I just need to get over my crippling fear or water and learn how to swim first
I really look forward to the photos when you guys are settled.

Re: Happy Birthday Mark T
I haven't got to the open water diving level yed, i'm still at open water drowning
Re: Happy Birthday Mark T
Likewise! I'm terrified in water. Did dive training as part of my adventure instructor training in Galway yrs ago, and keep meaning to do the open water diving cert, but keep making excuses. I found diving a really scary but brilliant experience, felt like I was suffocating, and the whole breathing thing takes so much concentration.
I'm not a good swimmer either. I used to be alriight, gor a fright while water skiing and have been making excuses to stay away from water ever since!

Re: Happy Birthday Mark T
It realy is an amazing experience, but if you have a real fear of the feeling of suuffocation or clostraphobia, diving wouldnt be recommended....and controlling your breathing is a must, as our unvoluntary muscle movement controls the breathing via our nose, which you have to completely switch off and control all breathing through your mouth........but after the initial 15 mins your body slowly adjusts,,,,,,the key is to relax, stay calm and breath deeply but slowly.......its the most amazing experience....thoroughly recommended ......Red Sea rocks !
