Stripey
So a HUGE thank you has to Joe for this little beauty. Sorry the images took so long but it's the first chance I've had to get them off the camera. I was a little worried as he hadn't eaten for an age but had a big feed the other day so he seems happy enough. I have spent longer then I'd care to admit to watching him doing nothing, when I can spot him lol but he is fascinating, especially when I checked water etc...as this is what happened (so he can't be all that happy when I'm around)
Pretending he doesn't notice me
Not liking the camera much
After I took a few images, some rubbish, he reared right up completely exposing his underside and I did manage to get a couple of rubbish snaps before leaving him be, mainly because I was literally starting to shake and decided it was time to go but go me, I'm kicking Arachnophobias ass

Re: Stripey
No problem at all Tan
He can either be a sport and attack his meal right on, which i have to say is amazing to watch! or he might need you to smash the cricket over the head to knock it out a bit....it always helped for me, come morning it would be gone!
As for the rearing i find he'll do that instead of Kicking hairs which i only saw him do once, but not directly at me thank god!
Great shots Tan, he really is an absolute beauty !!!
and with him Tan !

Re: Stripey
Thanks Joe. He hasn't flicked anything at me and when he's been unimpressed the legs start to go up. I really do think he awesome and have been referring to him as Joe but wasn't sure how youd feel about that lol
Tell me about it. He held the pose for so long afterwards too he must have been rightly peeved but even at his size he scared the living day lights out of me. I have to say out of all the animals I've had/have, these guys really demand respect and it would be fair to say have me at my most cautious ever, which is a good thing.

I doubt he will either, but don't get too comfy, he seems to enjoy being the 'bossman'Tan wrote:Thanks Joe. He hasn't flicked anything at me and when he's been unimpressed the legs start to go up. Re: Stripey
Lovely spider Tan.
They are one of the few spiders that I've seen almost stand completely upright (free-standing that is) on their 2 back legs...... and with their fangs well and truly focused on someone.

Re: Stripey
lol I am laughing as I said out loud 'omg I've seen that' when I read your post Ian, but thinking back I didn't laugh at all when he did it.
I am successfully trying to conquer a fear and reckon I'm doing good and I'm sure he is as happy as I am to observe everything from out side the enclosure but he's drop dead gorgeous is my Joe

Joes father was having a look over the site at the gecko section (Joe is trying to convince him to get a Crestie) and we didn't want Dad getting the wrong impression from this thread (me saying Joe, the spider, is gorgeous)

Re: Stripey
OMG Tan, calling a spider 'Joe' is terrible, the poor creature....
... on the other hand my middle name = "Guisseppi" also happens to be Italian for 'Joe'. So maybe this thread ain't big enough for too many Joes. :) (will the more ugly Joe please step off)

Re: Stripey
Ian, you make me laugh more then I can express sometimes, do I feel a Goodfellas quote coming on 'You're a funny guy!' but totally diggin the middle name. Very cool indeed
Marty, now come on, we worked on this, KARL is the bad influence, that way the OHs can bash him instead of us pmsl
Thank you John. I got this little lady from a member on here called Johnny but he never posted images of her before. I don't think you'd know her but you never know. It can be funny the rounds some animals do but shes going no where :)

Re: Stripey
Hehehehe eh nope - el Raymondo of Chateau Robinson is to blame for all of this.....actually, this whole section of the forum. If 'arachnids' was a gang name, Mr. Robo would've recruited a small village by now LOL!!
Very nice Nhandu Tan, mine is as mad as a hatter so glad to see yours is also!

Hi Tan
Im really confused now, I knew that JoeR had supplied you with a white striped bird eater (Nhandu chromatus) which he originally got from me and assumed that this was the same spid, (especially as you called it Joe) which is why I asked did I know it. Do I take it that you have two Nhandus then?

Re: Stripey
John for some reason I thought something completely different & forgot what thread I was in. Pulling all nighters & using a forum all day just messes with your brain. You are 100% correct (you already know I need proof reading if I'm up late as it is )

Thats a relief Tan, I thought that I was losing the plot completely and as you know certain people on this forum would have taken great delight in telling me my confusion was down to old age!
