Now if you pop round to ours, stating prior that Starburst Baboons ought to be posed with for the "Dr Evil" thread....you just know you ain't gonna leave until you've had a go yourself....here's a couple of shots of our Raymond, handling, with a fair degree of aplomb I might add!!!

Guys, this is one stunningly beautuful tarantula. I may add however, that young Tony was the first one to hold it; I had offered to give him the kiss-of-life if anything went wrong - this ensured that nothing did!! Raymond and the OBT... 772154

Hey Buddy, you're correct it is an Usambara....I use an old wooden egg slice as a very appropriate coaxer and shield....present the wooden slice to the front of the spider and very gently touch the rear of the abdomen and I mean real gentle so that he walks forward rather than races forward....once on the spatula, same drill onto your arm...I'm never in any kind of a rush, so this may take a little time....once on your arm they calm down pretty quickly...after all whats the difference to a spider between an arm and a branch? I figure if you don't threaten the animal you should be good....

Having said all that, the White Striped Birdeater we picked up from John a while back is an animal I'd not care to handle....it's as mean as a rattler, rears up, strikes, spits and snarls, flicks hair and all kinds...the Orange Baboon in direct comparison is a pussy cat!!

Anyway you spider gurus, let's see some of you and your spiders either here or adopting ridiculous poses in the Dr Evil thread...
