Re: Chilean Rose Adult Male + Female
Nice pics Dave. I'm gona get one of these before I die I sware I will, no wuss here How have you found them to keep?
Re: Chilean Rose Adult Male + Female
i think there very easy to keep, with them taking up very little space, using very little heat, ive mine on top of a viv so they can absorb the heat escaping from it, and with them only eating a couple of crickets each a week there a very effecient to keep. the male i have is a far better specimen for display as it is always walking about and webbing.

Re: Chilean Rose Adult Male + Female
So do you use them as display animals only? I ask as I am one of these people who wants to touch everything and even more so when I know I can't/shouldn't.
Re: Chilean Rose Adult Male + Female
yea id have them as display only unless whoevers looking to hold them feels confident enough not to drop them, i here it can be messy if there dropped

Re: Chilean Rose Adult Male + Female
Yea I've heard a few stories too but with any animal I would ask someone to sit down or at a table in order to avoid a fatal fall unless they are experienced with them. Thanks for all the info too

T's are especially delicate, their abdomen can easily rupture from a fall only of a few inches. To make matetrs worse T's do not have heamolymph which is a clotting agent for their blood, hence they tend to die if there is a negative pressure of blood. It's not pretty.
You may have to create an ICU unit and apply some first aid if required.
Robc (aka tarantulaguy1976) on Youtube has a vid on how to make an ICU Robc's wife shows how to make an ICU for a T.
You can also check out these links for first aid tips:

Always handle a T a few inches from the ground, a carpeted area is fine. Remember that T's can make a sudden burst of speed in pretty much any direction.
