Just keep rubbing my nose in it how tame that g stripe has returned to being
at least it's great to see some pythons in the mix amongst boa breeders

Re: Coffee and Snake Talk....
Hey Buddy,
The nose rubbing is not on purpose...honest...I think all dwarfy/superdwarfy retics have a particular inferiority complex, often demonstrated by swift movement, aggressive posture, sometimes mouth gaping etc...etc...my big mainlanders don't.
Mr G is still a feisty[ish] animal....he currently lives in a 3 X 2 X 2 with a couple of perches and a decent hide, this offers him enough space to exercise and locations to just take a break and hide out for as long as he wants....he's removed fully gloved and tapped [as are all our retics] once he knows you're coming to get him he moves around a little quicker, however once in hand and after 20-30 secs he truly relaxes, gloves off as soon as he's out of the viv and he realises you're not food...Phil was handling the little guy for a good chunk of time, at least as long as it took me to clean his viv....I [like you] do believe these guys are smart and probably hold a grudge....fortunately and so far we've both seen eye to eye...

Re: Coffee and Snake Talk....
It's great to see him settled again mate....broke my heart when he turned on me after his great escape attempt.
These two we still have are just like you describe above...open their rubs and they shoot out mouth a gape but once they realise there is no food on the go they come out like two little angel,s though still quite lively to handle absolutely no aggression is ever shown.
Yes they are smart, I'm convinced....I remember a keeper on rfuk telling about how he accidently sprayed one of his while misting down the viv and hasn't been able to handle it since, only now getting lunged at every time he opens it's viv

Re: Coffee and Snake Talk....
Was great to finally see round your collection Tony thank you for taking the time out. What a collection, I think we spent around 2 hours looking round and I still only seen about 2/3. The retics where sweet but those BCL's are stunning although your collection of BCI's are my favourite.

Re: Coffee and Snake Talk....
Phil, you're so photogenic
On the subject of dwarf retics, having kept quite a lot of them now I find their temperments just as variable as the mainlands to be honest.
Tony - MUST see your collection someday! We were lucky enough to see some of Phil's in person. It's always great to see a nice variety of snakes kept in such fantastic conditions. You guys are a credit to the forum, and to Irish reptile keepers in general!
