i'll forgive you for callin me by my slightly less attractive brothers name.
vapona i have found is quite effective, i use it once a week for 3-4 weeks after i treat for mites, catch any hatching eggs. i cant find it anywhere now though. think it got banned or someething in th uk. but PAM seems to be the way forward and gets te eggs as they hatch apparently....................

Re: Snake Mites
we got our 2 cans of Prevent a mite yesterday, cost around €40 a little pricey but it works, expecially when we have a few snakes coming from Hamm next week, there is bound to be one or two with a few.

Re: Snake Mites
I have used MITE OFF very successfully for a few years now,i have used this to treat a few animals quarantined new additions that have had mites. It is totally harmless to your snake and can be sprayed directly in the face, its is also reasonably cheap compared to most.
I also never use bark or chippings etc in my vivs or racks, plastic hides and news paper all the way.

Re: Snake Mites
After a bit of digging I managed to track down a shop in the UK that supplies Provent-a-mite: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
I haven't ordered it from this shop personally but I'm told Glenn - the shop owner - can deliver via Royal Mail within 7 working days - its worth a phone call or e-mail to find out

Re: Snake Mites
My PAM arrived from the states today. Now I have it for any future break outs. It says not to remove the substrate and not to spray into an empty viv, but I wonder if this still applies to newspaper. Do you guys that use PAM use it in viva that you use newspaper as substrate? Also, do you take the snake out to offer it water, or do you just leave the water dish in the Viv for an hour or so each day, then take it out again?

Re: Snake Mites
I keep everything thats in the viv in the viv (except the water bowl), spray the PAM, close the viv doors and wait for the fumes and smell to die away - I give it a few hours just to be sure - meanwhile the snake is tubbed up temporarily away from the viv and fumes.
I put the water bowl in each day for an hour during the first week after spraying; after that time period I keep the water bowl in the viv as usual.
